| Anderson | John Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Geography and Geosciences | Dr. John is an enthusiastic, personable, and knowledgeable professor. He cares about every student who walks through his door, and he is determined to make sure that each student gets the best education they can. I was very pleased to have happened upon his class, and if I had discovered Dr. John before he decided to retire, he possibly could have single-handedly helped me decide on my major as being geography, and I would have taken every class he taught if that was possible. He is a wonderful person and deserves this recognition.
| Anderson | John Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Geography and Geosciences | Even though he is retiring at the end of this year, I would like to nominate Dr. John. It's his style, personality, and delivery that made population geography much more interesting and thought-provoking than you could possibly have imagined. Nothing is greater than when wisdom meets humor, and his soft but poignant quips and ideas truly made for a surprisingly fun course.
| Anderson | John Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Geography and Geosciences | He's one of a kind. Instructors like Dr. John are few and far between. He deserves to be recognized for his efforts and enthusiasm in the classroom.
| Anderson | John Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Geography and Geosciences | Dr. John was a great professor that will be sadly missed! Hopefully he will come back and visit us again during the year.
| Anderson | John Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Geography and Geosciences | Great teacher who helped me decide on my major. A great benefit to the school and department.
| Arslanian | Samual | College of Arts and Sciences | Pathways--Developmental Math | Only math teacher that has ever been able to get the concepts across to me. | |
| Barbosa-Jerez | Mary | College of Arts and Sciences | English | ||
| Beattie | Blake | College of Arts and Sciences | History | He has absolutely amazing lectures, he's hilarious, and keeps the class engaged. I took nothing but notes all the time but I learned some of the coolest information that I'll remember forever. Thanks Dr. Beattie! | |
| Berman | Julie | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | I've been very sick this semester, to the point where I've dropped classes and basically haven't been to any classes for the past two months. While most of my professors have been understanding, Dr. Berman has made a real effort to help me continue with the course, by being available through email, phone, and for brief meetings. She constructed an independent version of the group project which is the majority of our grade, since she knows I can't make it out of the house and would have struggled to stay afloat in a group project. I don't know that I would be able to pass this class without the extra help and consideration she has given me. | |
| Billingsley | Dale | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Dr. Billingsley is 'concerned' (as he says) about his students' performance. He seems to work an amazing lot of time for his classes. And in the class, he is a well of wisdom. He is up to date with technology, despite his being a teacher of the literature of once upon a time. He reads students' papers carefully, gives them the spirit to do better, and he responds to every query. He seems to read your eyes when they signal you've not understood or want to ask a question. | |
| Billingsley | Dale | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Dr. Billingsley's class is by no means easy and at times can be a little stressful; however, he strives to connect to each student on a personal level. Throughout the semester, he has sent my classmates and me several personally addressed e-mails requesting our impression of the class and informing us of how we're doing. He also takes a personal interest in the lives of his students and really seems to work hard to constantly communicate with the class. | |
| Billingsley | Dale | College of Arts and Sciences | English | ||
| Billingsley | Dale | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Not only does Billingsley completely and thoroughly know the class he's teaching (British Lit) but he has shown an actual interest in me as a person. Via email he has helped to guide me towards my graduation this spring and what kinds of options I have. He has shown interest in my personal life too and that is rare for a professor in my experience. I have seen him interact with the other students in my class in a similar way and I would not doubt he is interacting with them in the same way. I have a feeling I'll remember him long after graduation. | |
| Borton | Sonya | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Mrs. Borton was one of the best teachers I've ever had. She was very friendly and fair and worked hard for our class even though she was simultaneously working on her PhD. She made the class interesting and challenging, and I think she definitely deserves recognition for the way she teaches. She was very easy to get in touch with and graded papers in a timely fashion. | |
| Brewer | Rodney | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | He is funny and interesting and really helps put what we read into real life scenarios. | |
| Brewer | Rodney | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Great Teacher! | |
| Brewer | Rodney | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | He is the best!! That's why people fight to get into his classes. I have had two of his classes. I learned a lot in both of them and had fun doing it. Brewer makes his lessons easy to learn and remember. He is not only great in the classroom, but on a personal level as well. It's easy to see that he REALLY cares and is eager to help anybody. He also tells the best stories, and is always making people laugh. He is the BEST!! | |
| Brewer | Rodney | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Professor Brewer spends time taking care of us the students as people. He gets to know you if you want to be known and involved. He brings real life stories to class that help with learning and are comical at the same time. He also is there for you as a friend. The past few weeks have been really hard for me, and he has offered his ear to talk to many times. He always has encouragement for us and likes to get to know us and joke around with us. He is one of the best professors. Unfortunately he only teaches 3 courses and I am getting ready to take the 3rd one next semester, but I will continue to go see him for help because I know that he will be there for me if I need him! | |
| Brewer | Rodney | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | He really made the class fun and interesting. I especially liked how he related everything he talked about in class to his own experiences in law enforcement. Speaking of his experiences, Mr. Brewer was the right person to teach the class, the jobs he has held at the KSP are incredible! So that is why Rodney Brewer was my favorite faculty this semester! | |
| Brewer | Rodney | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | ||
| Brown | David | College of Arts and Sciences | Physics and Astronomy | He is the most energetic, skilled and caring professor on campus. | |
| Buchanan | Robert | College of Arts and Sciences | Chemistry | Dr. Buchanan is, without a doubt, one of the most enthusiastic professors I have had at any college or university I have attended. His fast-pace teaching style may leave some students behind, but because he comes prepared to class with lecture notes, following along is easier than in most class lecture styles. His notes leave plenty of space to write down loads of information, and he has never had a problem stopping in order to ensure class understanding. In some instances the class was having difficulty understanding one or two topics so he would set back the schedule to reiterate one topic. His group practices on two key topics for the course allowed for a different style of learning not used by most professors. The most interesting point I will always remember from his lectures was his tendency to reuse a word not normally used in everyday language in his lectures, now I will forever use words such as "caveat" and "germane" in speaking. | |
| Buchanan | Rhonda | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | Dr. Buchanan is the kindest, most intelligent, enthusiastic, creative, and giving teacher I have ever had in my entire 17 years of education. | |
| Buchanan | Rhonda | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | Doctor Rhonda Buchanan is one of the most amazing women I have ever met. Working as her assistant this past semester, I have had the opportunity to witness first hand how much work and sheer dedication goes into being a truly wonderful professor. She goes above and beyond the call of duty everyday. Her love of other cultures and the Spanish language is evident in everything she does. She is more than just an astounding professor, but also a friend and mentor to her students. I am extremely sad to say that after December I will no longer have the pleasure of working with Dr. Buchanan. Thank you for everything Dr. B. | |
| Buchanan | Rhonda | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | She's very enthusiastic about teaching and knowing about each student's life. She takes interest in you as a person, not just as a student. She's amazing! | |
| Carothers | Mary | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Mary's dedication to the success and well-being of her students is exemplary. Her open and creative spirit is a gift to those lucky enough to study with her. | |
| Cedeno | Aristófanes | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | I had him for ML 160 last year. I really enjoyed his class. | |
| Cedeno | Carmen | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | She has so much enthusiasm in the classroom. She makes learning Spanish fun and entertaining. I have learned so much in her class this semester without even realizing it, mainly because she teaches in such a fun manner. | |
| Chan | Ying Kit | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Ying Kit is a rare gem of an instructor in the Fine Arts department. His classes are always fun-filled, very informative, and allow students maximum creativity and room to grow. Ying Kit is always cheerful, always helpful, and most certainly always a joy to listen to in the classroom. | |
| Chan | Ying Kit | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Ying Kit is a knowledgeable instructor and his humor makes class enjoyable. | |
| Chan | Ying Kit | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Ying Kit Chan is an awesome teacher. He is encouraging, inspiring and helpful. He put together an art show for our class and worked harder to put it together than we worked making the art work for the show. | |
| Chapman | Stow | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | ||
| Chellman | Warren | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | He is a very good teacher. | |
| Church | Matthew | College of Arts and Sciences | Academic Advising Center | He gives me all of the information I need in a way that makes sense. He talks to me, not above me. | |
| Crawford | Candice | College of Arts and Sciences | Women's and Gender Studies | Ms. Crawford is a wonderful instructor. She answers e-mails quickly and explains the subject in a manner that is easy to understand. | |
| Cubine | William | College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology | He is a great professor and is a very personable guy. | |
| Cumbler | John | College of Arts and Sciences | History | I'm a junior here at the University and I must say out of all the professors that I have had, I have learned the most from his class and I've never had a professor care the way he does about the students. Dr. Cumbler expects a lot from us and that's what I love to see from a professor. He knows what he's talking about when it comes to history, and being a history major myself, from taking three of his classes so far, has made me want to continue working on getting my degree in History. | |
| Cunningham | Vanessa | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | This particular professor was always willing to help me during and after class. She is always positive and passionate about her teaching. | |
| Curry | Christopher | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Mr. Curry has affected my writing and learning in so many ways. I've grown so much this past semester because of him. He is a wonderful teacher and I would recommend him to everyone. | |
| DeMarco | Paul | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | Dr. DeMarco is a genuine guy and a great teacher! He always answered questions, was very polite, and taught everything in a way that everyone could understand. He always wanted the best for everyone in the class, and I think he deserves this award more than anyone! | |
| DuPré | Donald | College of Arts and Sciences | Chemistry | Really understands how to teach students physical chemistry. | |
| Eckersley | Tracey | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Lots of enthusiasm, great teacher, really cares and tries to teach everyone. | |
| Esrock | Stuart | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | He is a wonderful instructor. He uses relevant everyday examples in class and really cares about his students' success. | |
| Farmer | Kelly | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | She makes a hard subject easy to learn. She is always willing to stay after class or after office hours to help with any problems a student is having. She continually goes above and beyond the call of duty. | |
| Farrier | Jasmine | College of Business | Political Science | Dr. Farrier is an outstanding teacher in every way! | |
| Fell | Ronald | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | Dr. Fell's sincere interest in the success of his students impresses me very much. He does an excellent job in whatever he does. Whether it is lecturing, advising, listening to a student, or whatever, Dr. Fell goes above and beyond the call of duty to help students out. | |
| Foster | Price | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Great professor! Very straightforward! Encourages me to take more classes on campus rather than online! | |
| Foster | Price | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | He genuinely cares about his students and their future. | |
| Foster | Price | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Dr. Foster is the epitome of the ideal college professor. He gives 110% to his students. He teaches with fairness, endowing his students with lifelong knowledge. He gives his personal money and time to the community and to those in need. He is available for help 24/7. I can't think of a person more deserving of the favorite teacher label. | |
| Fout | Tim | College of Arts and Sciences | Philosophy | Tim Fout is an outstanding professor fully deserving recognition for his accomplishments as a scholar, role model and instructor. Mr. Fout tirelessly introduces sound argumentative principles, based on solid logic, to help students think critically about important issues such as ethics and morality. He gently guides them away from the pop philosophy of anything goes and persuades the students to see his point of view, even if they arrived on the first day with diametrically opposing views; or worse, no views at all. | |
| Fowdy-Cannon | Amy | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | She is a great person who is fun to be around. She does great with teaching her class. | |
| Friesen | Leslie | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Leslie is quite possibly the most helpful instructor I've ever had. She is knowledgeable, funny, and seems to always know exactly how to push her students to be the best artisans possible. She truly has faith in the abilities of her students and treats them all like her family. Sometimes it's tough love, but we all know we're better designers in the end for it. Leslie deserves a huge "thank you" for all she has given to the Communication Arts & Design program in the Fine Arts department. | |
| Friesen | Leslie | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Leslie is always willing to spend extra time with a student that needs help. | |
| Friesen | Leslie | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Leslie constantly encourages students to push themselves and their work. | |
| Gagne' | Patricia | College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology | She made me think in a critical and analytical way. She shows the big picture and makes the class enjoyable. She is a great professor. | |
| Ganote | Cynthia Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology
| Ganote | Cynthia Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology
| Ganote | Cynthia Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology | I voted for Dr. Ganote because she is a fantastic professor. In class, she was able to clearly explain elaborate concepts in a way that was understandable and attainable to every student. She took subjects that could have easily been tedious and made them interesting and applicable to the real world. She was an effective moderator of in-class discussion, and in this she was respectful to others who have different opinions and asked that students do the same.
| Ganote | Cynthia Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology
| Ganote | Cynthia Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology | The best professor on campus!!!!! Her style of teaching is unbelievable. More professors should teach at her level.
| Ganote | Cynthia Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology
| Gibson | Lee | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | He made a large introductory class engaging, and he also spent extra time teaching material for the next level to CLEP out. He also worked with other faculty members to make it possible. | |
| Gibson | John | College of Arts and Sciences | Philosophy | He is a good professor, and I have learned a great deal from him. | |
| Golding | Alan | College of Arts and Sciences | English | I believe that professor Golding is one of the most exceptional teachers I have ever had the privilege of learning from. His style of teaching keeps all of the students' attention while covering a lot of difficult material. I mostly admire his way of validating all comments and questions that students have. Whenever he asks a question to the class he will make the person who responded feel as though their remark was correct or useful. I really admire his intelligence and overall teaching ability. I would love to have all of my professors be like him! His class has been very rewarding for me. | |
| Gordon | Melissa | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | She enhanced what I learned in the classroom tenfold as she taught my psychology 201 recitation. She is the best. | |
| Gray | Tricia | College of Arts and Sciences | Political Science | Best professor in 5 years. | |
| Greene | John | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | This professor has been a huge part of my wonderful experience at U of L for the past 4 years. He deserves this award more than anyone not only because of his charisma and ability to motivate students in the classroom, but because of his "do anything for you" attitude outside of the classroom as well. He has a life of his own, of course, but he really puts his students first. | |
| Gregg | Jennifer | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | This teacher is the true meaning of a teacher. She was always willing to help and really wanted her students to understand. Her personality helped me relax in class and she understood my test anxiety issues and did everything to help me. I really enjoyed this class! | |
| Griner | Paul | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Can any one professor be more kind or more talented? | |
| Grossi | Elizabeth | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Great professor! Encourages me to take more classes on campus instead of online! | |
| Grossi | Elizabeth | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | ||
| Hale | John | College of Arts and Sciences | Liberal Studies/Anthropology | Dr. Hale is informative, interesting, cares for the student, and is knowledgeable. He brings to class artifacts that are thousands of years old so we, as students, can hold history in our hands. He makes a boring day seem GREAT. We are BLESSED to have this quality of faculty!!! | |
| Hale | John | College of Arts and Sciences | Liberal Studies/Anthropology | I nominate John Hale simply because he is a student's instructor. He handles the class in a professional manner, but is openly there for all students. Dr. Hale understands each student and how they learn. He is a perfect instructor. | |
| Hale | John | College of Arts and Sciences | Liberal Studies/Anthropology | Hands down the best teacher. | |
| Hardin | Carmen | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | Dr. Hardin is very compassionate and has a genuine concern for the student. She is willing to go the limits to help her students understand, learn, and achieve their goals. Her heart is in her job and it is evident. | |
| Harris | Albert | College of Arts and Sciences | Theatre Arts | Bert has a way of making Theatre History come alive. When he chooses to retire, the university is going to loose an irreplaceable asset. | |
| Harris | Albert | College of Arts and Sciences | Theatre Arts | Dr. Harris is such a cool guy, who not only knows everything about his course material, but also always makes it a point to make sure we understand the concepts. He is a great teacher and an even better person. | |
| Hawkins | Sharon | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | Professor Hawkins was very organized. She was sure that the class was aware of the attendance policy and the structure of the syllabus from the very first day of class. Although very strict in some ways (if you don't check your answer, or if you don't put it in a box, etc.), Professor Hawkins taught me the correct way to work math problems. I have never done this well in a math course before, and Professor Hawkins deserves some recognition for her EXCELLENT teaching skills. | |
| Hawkins | Sharon | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | She is a very good teacher and ready to answer any questions. | |
| Hayden | Theresa | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | At the beginning of the semester when she presented her syllabus and goals for where the class was going, I considered dropping the course. She found a way to simplify the information and was able to explain and cover a lot of ground during the semester. She is one of the most thorough instructors I've had at the University, so thorough I'm taking another course of her's in the Spring. | |
| Hayden | Theresa | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | I absolutely want to nominate this teacher to be nominated for any award the Univ. of Louisville can give her. She is the most committed teacher I have seen in a long time. This woman will and has gone above what is required to make sure everyone of her students are at their best potential. She will bend over backwards to help that student out during the semester and especially regarding when course assignments are due. I am blessed, honored and elated that I am taking this course this semester (Fall 2006). She has also prepped us ahead of time for the follow-up course of JA-326 Quantitative Analysis. I feel that U of L in their course requirements should require these courses to be taken back to back. It should be a given because once you understand her concerts of JA-325 Research Methods, going right into the other class JA-326 QA, it should ease some of the fear that is associated with this class. Again, I urge the University to strongly consider Ms. Theresa Hayden for an award. I'm a senior with 4 classes left, but also at age 51, I am one of the older students that has to struggle more in classes to grasp some subjects, and this goal was absolutely met in this class with Ms. Hayden. Thank you for any consideration you can give this deserving teacher. | |
| Haynes | Lora | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | I will be taking my fourth class with her in the spring time. She goes out of her way to make sure that all of her students are accommodated. She also makes class interesting because the real life examples that she uses are from her own experiences from her children. She even makes sure that anyone and everyone can chime in and speak of their experiences that relate to the class lecture. | |
| Higgins | George | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Even though he requires a lot, he makes sure you understand what he is requiring. Also he makes his class fun, which helps with the learning process. | |
| Higgins | George | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | George makes learning criminological theories interesting...not an easy task. He is so smart and so well-informed about the subject matter, yet has the ability to be able to bring it down to my level so that I can more easily understand the concepts. He is very patient, and always has time to help me through any problems I have. He is the epitome of a great instructor - we need more professors like George Higgins. | |
| Higgins | George | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | He is able to take a boring subject and make it seem interesting. He was also readily available to talk to when you had a question or concern. I learned more from him and his examples he offered in class than I did from the textbook used for the class. | |
| Holmes | Ronald | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | He is an awesome instructor and makes the class really fun. | |
| Holmes | Ronald | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Holmes is a great teacher, he's really funny, he actually knows what he is teaching and seems to enjoy his job. He's had a large amount of real-life experience which makes him even more interesting. | |
| Holmes | Ronald | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Dr. Holmes makes learning graphic material fun and keeps the class involved in the lecture. | |
| Hughes | Carolyn | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | I have never had a teacher who could make science so interesting. She is the best teacher who can make the most tedious subject interesting. She is always available when a student needs help and is exceptional when it comes to explaining terms in simple detail. | |
| Hughes | Carolyn | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | She was a wonderful teacher! She was really concerned with students understanding the material - in her Bio 104 class - and not just regurgitating the information covered. She connected biology to current events, keeping the class engaged. I can honestly say, she is one of my favorite teachers at UofL, and I am a junior. | |
| Hughes | Carolyn | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | Dr. Hughes is, in my opinion, an extraordinary teacher, and I learned so much in her class. Her teaching style was extremely effective, and I just think she did a great job teaching Intro. to Biological Systems. | |
| Hunter | Jim | College of Arts and Sciences | Humanities | He has an amazing personality. He kept the class interested in the subject he was teaching. | |
| James | Douglas | College of Arts and Sciences | Theatre Arts | He takes his time to help us understand the things we never understood in lecture. He is funny and talented and always in a great mood. | |
| Jarchow | Kathleen | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | Mme. Jarchow is my French 121 professor this semester. As a freshman, I wasn't sure what to expect of University classes and professors. Mme. Jarchow's teaching style, enthusiasm and love for teaching has made me feel comfortable and anxious to learn more. I love the french language, and Mme. Jarchow has made it a joy to learn! | |
| Jarchow | Kathleen | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | Amazing!!!! | |
| Jones | Ricky | College of Arts and Sciences | Pan African Studies | He makes his class do fun things and makes learning fun. He really does care for his students, and wants them to learn! | |
| Jones | Ricky | College of Arts and Sciences | Pan African Studies | He has really emphasized the fact that it's not what we do in the classroom, but it's what you do out in the real world that matters. | |
| Jones | Ricky | College of Arts and Sciences | Pan African Studies | He wants students to THINK!! To not take everything at face value. He doesn't shove useless information into your head to memorize. He actually TEACHES you! | |
| Kimbell | Elizabeth | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | Professor Kimbell has been a FANTASTIC instructor for the past two semesters I have taken her classes. I specifically look for her name when I select my online communication classes, I would recommend her to anyone, and believe she strongly deserves recognition! | |
| Kopelson | Karen | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Tough, fun, sharp and giving. | |
| Kopelson | Karen | College of Arts and Sciences | English | I can't begin to describe the dedication Dr. K has, she has made experiences in her classrooms memorable and enjoyable. She is always willing to help any student and her witty comments and intelligence are also on the list of wonderful qualities she has to offer. Honestly I've never encountered a teacher who's opened up so much for me as a student. She is very clear and helpful when giving advice and know's how to articulate what it is that the individual needs. She's an amazing women and luckily she was able to find her true calling as a professor. | |
| Lacap | William | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | Professor Lacap taught Spanish I this semester and now that the semester is nearing the end, I am amazed how quickly I learned the language. One might say that my education is taught from a textbook but I believe that if a professor allows for a relaxed education environment where students are comfortable in making and learning from their mistakes and encouraging them to do their best, then they will do their best. I am thankful to Professor Lacap for being sensitive to students that had no experience in Spanish and his willingness to help us with assignments so that all can succeed in class. Professors, like Professor Lacap, make a real difference to students at UofL where the phrase "Dare to be great!" really applies. | |
| Leidner | Alan | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | ||
| Leidner | Alan | College of Arts and Sciences | Classical and Modern Languages | ||
| Lewine | Richard | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | He is an incredible instructor. He is always courteous to students, always enlightening in his teaching practices. He makes things easy to understand, but doesn't lose the complexity of the idea. He uses funny analogies to help us to remember, but is very serious about his field. He is kind and interesting. I am always enthralled when I am in his class. | |
| Lewis | Larry | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | I could not have asked for a better Math 190 teacher. He shows pride in all of his lectures. | |
| Lin | Erika | College of Arts and Sciences | English | ||
| Mackey | Thomas | College of Arts and Sciences | History | Dr. Mackey is also the prelaw advisor. He goes way above and beyond what many professors do. He always has time for students and has much advice to help students succeed. His courses are not strictly lectures as he forces students to use their skills to contribute to the discussion. Dr. Mackey is what all professors should be. | |
| Mansfield-Jones | Jennifer | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | She is a great teacher. She is very enthusiastic about her course material. She provides many different ways to learn the material and truly cares for her students' success in her class. A great teacher all around. | |
| Martin | Denise | College of Arts and Sciences | Pan African Studies | She engages students with her excellent knowledge of the black experience. She is very enthusiastic with her students and makes sure her students are attentive and understand her topic. She teaches in a way that reaches everyone. Her technique is bringing students of all nationalities, ethnicities, cultures and religious backgrounds together. This instructor is changing the conservative views that disintegrate our nation. Well done, Dr. Martin! | |
| Massey | Scott | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Scott Massey has always been a spectacular instructor and mentor. He has helped me set my path toward graduate school and he's given me great insight on career options for future planning. My artwork has been strengthened as a result of his positive instruction and guidance, and my critiquing and analysis abilities would not be anywhere near as focused as they are now if it was not for him. Scott is the best art professor I've had; no one has challenged me like he has, and no instructor has shown me how to get out into the world like he has. | |
| McGrath | Kristina | College of Arts and Sciences | English | She creates a classroom environment that helps to bring out the best in every student. | |
| Merkel | Ralph | College of Arts and Sciences | IT Instructional Support Services | Dr. Merkel is a great teacher and wants to help his students succeed. He is enthusiastic about his class and it rubs off on most students. | |
| Meyer | Robert | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | ||
| Meyer | Robert | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | I really enjoy Dr. Meyer's forensic psychology class. That's another reason why I chose to take him again because I had his class before in abnormal psychology, and I found Dr. Meyer to be one of the best psychology instructors here at U of L, outside of Dr. Edna Ross, who I also found to be an excellent psychology instructor. Dr. Meyer covers a lot of interesting cases, and I have learned an extreme amount of detailed information from both of his classes; I feel a lot smarter now than I did before just by taking Dr. Meyer's class. I also think he can be very humorous at times, and he made me laugh sometimes when covering material in class; he made others laugh as well. Plus, another point I really like about Dr. Meyer is that he is concerned about a student's future plans regarding graduate school. Sometimes, after class, he would see if anyone wanted to talk to him about graduate school; that really made me happy to know that he really is concerned about students' future plans after undegrad. I will miss having him as my instructor after this semester for psychology classes. My vote goes to Dr. Meyer; my favorite all time instructor of this University! | |
| Miller | Amy | College of Arts and Sciences | English | INCREDIBLE TEACHER, listens well and always explained what she wanted. The only class that I truly enjoyed attending this semester was Amy's English 101! | |
| Mitchell | Gilbert | College of Arts and Sciences | Pathways--Developmental Math | I enjoyed his class and how he always engaged us with his teaching instead of just being straight out of the book all the time. That was interesting!!! | |
| Mosley | David | College of Arts and Sciences | Humanities | Professor Mosley has been the most enthusiastic and pleasant teacher I have had in my college career at UofL so far. He is very creative in his teaching methods, allowing his students to learn in ways that are more convenient and fun. Also, he teaches his students how to relate those concepts to everyday life. | |
| Mosley | David | College of Arts and Sciences | Humanities | Since he came to UofL, I have taken two or three of his courses and find both the subject matter and the texts used both interesting and important. The first class I had with him was Intro to Philosophy and his enthusiasm and extensive knowledge interested me in the field. As a result, I have decided to be a philosophy minor and he has encouraged me to do this on several occasions. He is always willing to talk when both of us have some free time. Lately neither of us have had much, but we have still kept up. He was also very polite in helping me apply and recommend me for two scholarships--both of which where awarded to me--and he also counseled me on the necessary essay for one of the scholarships. I know he would do all of these things for each of his past and former students. I plan on taking more of his courses in the future and know they will be as good as they were in the past. | |
| Musselwhite | Rebekah | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | I think that Rebekah is the best math TA, that anyone could have. | |
| Noble | Mark | College of Arts and Sciences | Chemistry | Dr. Noble is an excellent instructor that makes the subject of Chemistry very interesting. He applies everything to the real world and helps his students understand microscopic processes at a macroscopic level. On top of being an expert in his field, he is able to teach the material clearly and entertainingly. I have recommended Dr. Noble to friends. Professors can learn from his enthusiasm and dedication to teaching. | |
| Noble | Mark | College of Arts and Sciences | Chemistry | He is very dedicated to getting the class to understand the material (I mean come on, he wrote a book for us). His teaching style is effective, he keeps to the class content, and is overall a lighthearted teacher. | |
| Noble | Mark | College of Arts and Sciences | Chemistry | He makes Chemistry interesting. | |
| Owen | David | College of Arts and Sciences | Philosophy | Phil319 has made an impression on me. I really didn't have any awareness of other races and their perceptions, and this class has made me a more open, aware and sympathetic person to different issues. I didn't realize that this class would make such an impact on my thoughts and life as I struggled with some of the readings but Dr. Owen allowed this awareness to develop throughout the semester with different perceptions with the topic of racism. | |
| Parrish | Sonya | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Mrs. Parrish is the greatest!! She kept me on my toes when I really didn't know what was going on!! She helped me with everything and talked to me when she could!! She also got my mind clear of thinking that my papers were going to be bad!! Mrs. Parrish got me focused on my writing!! She is the greatest!! | |
| Payne | Melissa | College of Arts and Sciences | Humanities | She was the best teacher I've had at U of L so far. | |
| Payne | Melissa | College of Arts and Sciences | Humanities | ||
| Payne | Rodger | College of Arts and Sciences | Political Science | His lectures are relaxed and thought provoking. His curriculum and assignments are challenging, and he expects well thought-out and original work from students. His pedagogy is one that leads students to an understanding of the subject, rather that simply depositing information into students' brains. | |
| Potter | Nancy | College of Arts and Sciences | Philosophy | Dr. Potter is a great teacher not only inside the classroom but also outside of it. Dr. Potter takes the time to make sure that her students understand class materials. Her classes go in depth with what the material means rather than giving just a surface presentation. In addition, Dr. Potter is so very good at encouraging students when she sees their strengths, giving her students more confidence in their work and more motivation to continue being successful. Dr. Potter has also taken the lead in a very dynamic way as the philosophy honors society (Phi Sigma Tau) advisor. She has helped us develop new ideas for the progress of the group. She has motivated students to become involved in the philosophy department. She started a reading group this semester as an outgrowth of the philosophy honors society for those interested in doing more study outside the classroom. Dr. Potter has given so much of her time for this, opening up an opportunity for study and discussion that would otherwise not have been available. Dr. Potter is an excellent instructor, mentor, and advisor. |
|
| Potter | Nancy | College of Arts and Sciences | Philosophy | Dr. Potter is the best professor that I have had the opportunity to learn from. She truly cares about her students, patients, and subject matter. She goes that extra mile in order to ensure that her students are learning and enjoying class. The recent class that I took with her was an honors seminar titled, "Philosophy of Mental Illness." I learned more useful information from this class than any other, and the discussions that we had were incredibly interesting and thought provoking. Dr. Potter deserves this award, because she cares more about her students than any other professor at U of L. She even brought in a sympathy card for our class to sign when a classmate's loved one passed away. Dr. Potter is the best we have! | |
| Powe | Aleeta | College of Arts and Sciences | Chemistry | She has been the first teacher that I have had at U of L that seems to really want everyone to pass with understanding of what we have to complete, and not just with a grade. She relates well with our class, and is always positive about the work we will be completing in lab sessions. | |
| Priest | Mark | College of Arts and Sciences | Fine Arts | Professor Priest not only thoroughly knows his field and successfully practices it as a professional painter, he enthusiastically shares what he knows with us in his classes. He works very hard to help us succeed. Professor Priest discerns just what we need to know and then explains this with examples to make the information clear. He is patient and kind. I have learned more about painting and visual art from him than from any other teacher I have ever had. I highly recommend him for this honor! | |
| Rademaker | Edward | College of Arts and Sciences | History | He is funny and brings history to life. He tells you a lot of interesting stories you won't find in history books. He's simply an amazing professor who makes you want to come to class. | |
| Rademaker | Edward | College of Arts and Sciences | History | He brings history to life, and teaches it like he is telling a story, rather than just reading facts! | |
| Remold | Susanna | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | Dr. Remold is an excellent instructor and advisor. She is willing to do anything in her power to help her students succeed! | |
| Ricketts | Melissa | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | Professor Ricketts is one of the only professors at UofL that I have felt really, genuinely cares about my well-being. I love her class because she teaches in a way that I can easily understand and never makes it boring. She is willing to help you with anything whether it relates to the class or not. She makes you feel welcome to contact her or stop by her office at any time for whatever you might need. Students may find her class challenging because she gives harder exams than some professors, but it is because she knows we can do it and she wants to push us to achieve. I think that is excellent and I have been very happy with the two classes I have taken with her. | |
| Ricketts | Melissa | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | She makes going to class enjoyable. When I first got the syllabus for the class, I was very discouraged because there was so much work in the class. There were times that made me want to drop the class, but I kept going to the class because of Dr. Ricketts. Dr. Ricketts went through a lot this semester, and all through her struggles she still educated to the best of her ability. She is definitely a professor I will not forget. Her dedication to Juvenile Justice was shown in every class, and I am happy to say I am glad I did not drop the class because, as of right now, I have an A in her class. Thanks Dr. Ricketts for your dedication and your hilarious laughter!!! | |
| Ricketts | Melissa | College of Arts and Sciences | Justice Administration | I believe that Melissa Ricketts is the best professor at UofL. I have not had any other teachers who have taken as much interests in her students. Professor Ricketts is the type of professor that you can go talk to about anything and she is willing to help you with anything. Her lectures are interesting. She never teaches straight from the book--she always has good information to contribute in addition to the text. She connects things to the real world so that we can better understand the concepts. Some students complain that her class is hard but I think that it is very reasonable. She pushes us to work hard and excel, which is a very good thing. Not many other teachers I have had at UofL have seemed to genuinely care about their students' progress. I think that Professor Ricketts is the whole package as far as teaching is concerned. | |
| Ridley | Glynis | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Professor Ridley brings so much excitement and interest into the subjects she teaches, it makes one sad to miss a day of class. | |
| Riedel | Thomas | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | Great teacher, does everything he can to keep class motivating and challenging. | |
| Riedel | Thomas | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | Thomas Riedel is the shining light in the dark abyss that is my life. I am fortunate to see UofL's greatest instructor every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and not only for 50 minutes, but for a glorious hour and 15 minutes. This is my second semester with Dr. Riedel. I truly believe that I can die happy. | |
| Rieger | Jon | College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology | Prof. Rieger made a lasting impression on me early on in the class. He presented the material in an intelligent and fun way, he was enthusiastic about the subject, and would also take the time to sit and talk with any student that wanted to. He is a kindhearted person who cares deeply about the subject and his students, and I am glad to have had him instruct me. | |
| Rogers | Linda | College of Arts and Sciences | English | She's a great teacher who has her students' best interest at heart!! | |
| Ross | Edna | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | Greatest instructor I've had so far. Kept class very entertaining and made learning fun. | |
| Ross | Edna | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | Every lecture was entertaining as well as educational. | |
| Ross | Edna | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | She taught a summer course in 2005. I got more teaching tips from her than the rest of the ELFH department. | |
| Salmon | Paul | College of Arts and Sciences | Psychological and Brain Sciences | Dr. Salmon is a great instructor--knowledgeable, personable and genuinely concerned with student success. He is one of the best professors I've had class with at U of L. | |
| Schultz | David | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | Great enthusiasm! He motivates the students to not only understand core concepts of BioChem, but how they relate holistically to the organism and its processes. He is always very clear and helpful. | |
| Schultz | David | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | Dr. Schultz is my mentor and he is helping me achieve my goals! | |
| Sherrard | Michelle | College of Arts and Sciences | English | She helped me so much, and really gave us constructive criticism. | |
| Slavin | Arthur | College of Arts and Sciences | Humanities | Dr. Slavin's impact in the classroom is exceptional. I had the pleasure of taking his 'Topics in the Interpretation of Sacred Texts: Jesus Judaism and Paul' Hum. 511 course this fall. His treatment of potentially sensitive material involving the origins of Christianity is clearly unbiased and presented in an appropriate academic context. His obvious passion for the subject matter communicated itself to the students, serving to inspire equal enthusiasm. His background knowledge surrounding the course material is obviously extensive, and he brings his impressive experience to bear in addressing unique topics and questions arising in class. Dr. Slavin combined lecture and discussion, encouraging students to wrestle with difficult material on their own terms, facilitating a comprehensive understanding. It is also clear that each lecture has been prepared specifically for each session, based on in-class discussion in previous sessions of that class, rather than retained from previous semesters. | |
| Slavin | Arthur | College of Arts and Sciences | Humanities | Dr. Slavin is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and motivating. He is the best educator I have experienced during my educational career. | |
| Smith | Steven | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Dr. Smith provided me with the greatest experience in English and writing that I have ever had. In my very first semester of college, Dr. Smith presented composition, critical thinking, research, and analysis in such a way that I actually enjoyed it, as did many of my classmates. He pushed us to produce quality work, yet was able to maintain an enjoyable environment and welcoming structure for the class. | |
| Smith | Steven | College of Arts and Sciences | English | I can honestly say that Steve Smith was the greatest teacher that I have ever had. He taught my Honors English 105 class this fall. Steve ran our class like a democracy, letting us make the decisions about what we would learn, read, write about, etc. Steve held personal conferences with everyone in the class during the semester. This allowed us to discuss anything we wanted with him, whether about his class or anyone else's. He personally helped me with a problem I was having with one of the other students in our class. Since the class last semester, I have seen him around campus a few times. He has always been very friendly and wants to take time to talk even now that I am no longer his student. He has also let me, along with his other students, know that if we ever need help with any papers or need recommendations that he would be glad to help. Steve Smith deserves this award not only because he was an exceptional teacher, but because he genuinely cares about every one of his students and will go out of his way to help them. This is not something commonly found in a college professor. | |
| Spierling | Karen | College of Arts and Sciences | History | Dr. Spierling is a kind, knowledgeable professor who respects her students although she is clearly their intellectual superior. Her course is extremely demanding, but the benefits one reaps from completing the readings and the many writings far outweigh the labor. In short, Dr. Spierling helps students grow intellectually and academically. Her rigorous standards force students to rise up to meet them. | |
| Steineck | Christine | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | She was the greatest!! She kept us laughing along with filling our minds with useful information!! | |
| Stokes | Todd | College of Arts and Sciences | History | He is a great teacher. He covers the material in a way that makes you want to learn. He is funny at times and is very fair. | |
| Stokes | Todd | College of Arts and Sciences | History | A great teacher who loves doing his job. He makes the class fun and enjoyable. | |
| Swanson | David | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | He is an excellent math professor. Professor Swanson is always available for questions and helps the students really learn the material. | |
| Tanner | Denise | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Professor Tanner taught me the most important thing anyone can teach a person: Be yourself, and you will succeed. | |
| Taylor | Katherine | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | She has helped me develop myself as a person and leader. She understands and respects her students which they return wholeheartedly. Her door is always open for school or life problems. She is a good shoulder to turn to and a great ear for listening. For this I think she should be recognized. | |
| Thompson | William Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | Thompson went out of his way to help me both inside and outside of the classroom-- he's been a great professor, mentor and friend. My college career would not be nearly as beneficial without his help and contributions to my educational experience.
| Thompson | William Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | This man is energetic and a genius. His ideas involving public relations have helped cultivate many successful communication majors over these 22 years he has taught at UofL. My classmates and I don't know where we'd be without him.
| Thompson | William Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | Dr. Thompson is a very clear, understanding teacher.
| Thompson | William Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | Professor Thompson is one of the best professors I have had at UofL. I have enjoyed all four of his classes, and I know I learned so much from each of them. His unique teaching style makes class interesting and enjoyable. He has always gone the extra mile to make sure students know the material. Also, he has always taken the time to go over my work and offer assistance and provide career advice. He is very knowledgeable on the subjects he teaches and does a great job in teaching students what he knows.
| Thompson | William Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | Dr. Thompson teaches in a very engaging and interacting way. His tests are not simply spitting back definitions, they are applying those definitions. He also encourages students to grow in the professional world by going to professional meetings and presentations. He also is willing to answer questions and meet with students outside of class. I have found him to be a valuable source and the only helpful source on my career path. His teaching method and willingness to go beyond the classroom helps students in the academic world and the professional world. That is why he is my favorite.
| Tkweme | William |
College of Arts and Sciences | Pan African Studies | I think that he is a very good instructor because he makes you really think about the subject matter. He allows the students to explore a different way of thinking. He encourages his students to really consider how they feel and why. I just thought that he expanded on the material that he presented very well. I actually learned quite a bit from his class as did others. Sometimes topics were a little heated among the students but he always remained impartial. He never voiced what he felt as being an African American, and he required that the students respected one another's opinions and views.
| Tuttle | Tara | College of Arts and Sciences | Humanities | She is the best professor I have had at U of L. | |
| Tyler | Bruce | College of Arts and Sciences | History | Dr. Tyler is a very smart man who knows the history of African Americans. I have learned so much in his classes, and if it was not for Dr. Tyler, I am not sure I would have learned as much, if someone else was instructing the class. He is fair to his students and enjoys spreading his knowledge to the students. | |
| Urekew | Robert | College of Arts and Sciences | Philosophy | He teaches in a way that everyone can understand, and if you don't understand what he has just covered, he has a personality which leads you to not be afraid to ask a question, and he will then proceed to explain the material in another way so that you do understand the material. He also cares about you as a person and wants the best for all his students, both inside and outside the classroom, and he will help you achieve both anyway that he can. Overall, he is a professor that not only can teach his students but he also cares about his students. | |
| Vigil | Joseph | College of Arts and Sciences | Political Science | A very good instructor. He made every class enjoyable and full of learning. | |
| Wagner | Lynn | College of Arts and Sciences | History | Very inspiring! | |
| Walker | Kandi | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | She has a genuine love for her field that comes through in her teaching. Her classes are always lively with LOTS of interaction with the students. Most people who were in my interpersonal communication class wanted to take another class about it from her. They were inspired to learn more about the field because of her. She genuinely cares about her students and always makes time to talk to students and to help advise them about their choices in school and life. She makes time in between classes, doing research, supporting the International Service Learning Program, being the adviser for Lambda Pi Eta, and raising her very young daughter. We need more teachers like her who want to get involved. She has inspired me to try harder in my classes and wouldn't give up on getting me to join the honor society and participate in it. She shows me that you can set goals and reach them. You have to not be afraid to try because you only hurt yourself when you give up. | |
| Walker | Kandi | College of Arts and Sciences | Communication | Dr. Walker makes Interpersonal Communications personal by using research, real life examples, and in-class discussions that help students apply the concepts and theories to their own lives. She exemplified the idea of instruction by focusing class time on group exercises and interactions, rather than dryly lecturing about the information contained in the text. Exams tested students on how well they could identify patterns and applications. My interest in pursuing a career in Communications was born in her classroom. She is a truly educational and inspiring professor. | |
| Weber | Jonetta | College of Arts and Sciences | Sociology | Dr. Weber is dedicated beyond the Sociology Department. She is available to mentor, counsel, and guide students from the entire UofL student body if they need help. She is not restricted to just her Department. She is dedicated and loyal to UofL and deserves recognition for her endless efforts to perform. She does her absolute best every time and everyday. It is my pleasure to nominate Dr. Jonetta D. Weber for this honor. Thank you. | |
| Wilkins | Carrye | College of Arts and Sciences | Mathematics | She made the class very enjoyable. She made math easy to understand and it is now not the most boring subject. Also, she was always available for help after class and encouraged us to use the math center. It was very important to her that we understood the material and would help us if we ever had any problems. | |
| Williams | Michael | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Basically, he is the best professor I have ever had. There is a need for more professors like him. He has an incredible passion and enthusiasm for what he teaches. His knowledge and passion causes the students in his class to increase their knowledge and passion as well. He truly cares for his students and that they come out of his class truly knowing the material and applying it to their lives. He is fabulous and needs to be recognized for the amazing professor he is! | |
| Wolfe | Joanna | College of Arts and Sciences | English | I really can't say enough about Dr. Wolfe. Through her use of cooperative learning, technology, engaging lessons, and her caring and professional personality she has been a wonderful teacher. All semester she cared about us learning and was so willing to help with any questions or concerns I or any other student had. I could tell she really worked hard to teach us what she could in the little time we had and she did an excellent job. She went as far as to even make a workbook for every student through a grant she obtained. I am going to miss having Dr. Wolfe as a professor and I really hope that she receives this award because I don't know anyone else more deserving or hard-working. | |
| Wong | Eric | College of Arts and Sciences | Biology | Great teaching technique! Always opened his doors for students! | |
| Wright | Carrie | College of Arts and Sciences | English | Professor Wright is a wonderful teacher. She does things in a way that makes learning fun. I have had teachers that make assignments boring, but she isn't like that. She encourages you to speak your mind about the pieces you read in class and doesn't try to get you to feel a certain way or that your feelings are wrong. You can have your own opinion in her class. She asks open-ended questions that make you speak up. She makes you think of things in a different way by giving you something that is about a certain subject, but you analyze it in different ways so you look at the piece from different points of view and you broaden your horizons. We were a very small class so it was easy to open up about things in class and out. She makes you feel very comfortable. I feel that, as a teacher and as a person, Professor Wright is warm-hearted, open and a very good teacher of a subject that could seem boring. This is why she is one of my favorite teachers. | |
| Yappert | Cecilia | College of Arts and Sciences | Chemistry | ||
| Yohannes | Tamara Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | English | Dr. Yohannes is one of the best professors I've ever had. She encourages students to think outside the box, making us learn more in the process. Her teaching skills are very encouraging for people to share their thoughts and expand on them.
| Yohannes | Tamara Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | English | Tamara is an absolutely amazing professor. Her classes are engaging and interactive; she encourages students to express any and all opinions and is always willing to spend time outside of class for further discussion or help. I have learned more from her in the past two semesters than I did in almost all of high school. She has been a wonderful mentor and inspiration to continue writing and questioning.

College of Arts and Sciences | English
| Yohannes | Tamara Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | English | Professor Yohannes conducts her classroom in a manner that is conducive to learning and independent thought in a way that many classes are not. In her ENG 310 course, the classes were truly about learning as a group. Not only did everyone feel comfortable voicing their thoughts, but I believe that comfort created the opportunity for the class to think about literature in new ways. But her teaching style is only part of what makes Professor Yohannes an outstanding professor at the University of Louisville. She is encouraging in a way that gives students, particularly myself, as an insecure transfer student, the confidence they need to succeed in college. She takes a personal interest in her students, including their academic goals, and is always willing to give advice on how to reach those goals. Whenever the topic of Professor Yohannes comes up among English majors, there's always at least a handful of students who light up and say that yes, she is their mentor, that she has taken a personal interest in them individually, and at first I was dismayed to discover I was not her favorite student as I had thought, but then I realized that it is impressive that one woman has the ability to make so many students feel a little less lost, and to feel as though they have an ally among the faculty who genuinely likes them and wishes them to succeed. |
|
| Yohannes | Tamara Top 13 |
College of Arts and Sciences | English | She is such an enthusiastic teacher. One never feels like one is being talked at, but rather, Professor Yohannes seems to learn and experience a text with her students, creating an enriched learning environment.
