Online Purchasing Management
*The online purchasing modules do not apply to the Purchasing/Supply Chain Professional Certificate. The certificate courses are face-to-face classroom seminars held in Louisville, KY and Indianapolis, IN.
We're taking our entire purchasing curriculum and reformatting it into online modules. Each module may contain one or more segments, none taking more than 25 minutes to complete. As with our public courses, the content is being developed using essential workplace competencies identified by the National Association of Purchasing Management and the U.S. Department of Labor.
So you can get the same great training you've come to expect without leaving your home or office! The fee for each module is $125. Following completion and testing/evaluation, you will receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and NAPM hours of continuing education.

Due to the ever-changing nature of the Internet and its impact on the way we purchase goods and services, this module will undergo frequent revisions. However, it will consistently cover the following basic, yet critical, topics:
- E-Commerce's relevance to the Uniform Commercial Code How E-Commerce will dramatically change the way buyers do business How to identify the e-tools with real value The 10 key items suppliers should include on their web sites Where to find the best supplier sites that meet the 3 key tests for usability

Understand the Legal Aspects of Purchasing
As an agent of your organization, you enter into contracts that are potentially damaging. (Consider the recent Bridgestone Tire case.) While you're not expected to be a legal expert, a basic understanding of legal issues affecting purchasing can help you stay out of court. This online module covers:
- The key terms of a contract and their impact on the contracts's outcome A whole new set of laws in the works that will govern e-commerce The 3 biggest risks in the formation of a contract
- What is (and what is not) covered by the UCC

More About the Instructor
Kenneth M. Rowe's extensive background in purchasing management includes positions as buyer for a $3 million electronics firm and director of purchasing for Parker Brothers Games, where he established a world-wide network of suppliers. Throughout his career, he has developed numerous tools for improving purchasing effectiveness including methods for measuring, identifying, and controlling the key factors that determine the supplier's ability to provide an organization with quality, delivery, and price. Ken consults with hundreds of organizations on all aspects of purchasing and has also developed a unique purchasing operations review program. His wealth of knowledge in purchasing management and practical approach to training have provided countless seminar participants with valuable tools for improving their purchasing performance.
