Other Safety and Health Courses

Unless otherwise specified, all classes meet from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the University of Louisville's Shelby Campus. 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. for 4-hour classes.

In addition to HAZWOPER courses, the University of Louisville's HAZMAT Training Center offers the following safety and health courses:


8-Hour Permit Required Confined Spaces

This course meets the requirements 1910.146, which seeks to protect employees in general industry from the hazards of entry into permit-required confined spaces. Curriculum encompasses more than 50% hands-on activities.

6-Hour Construction Safety/Health Overview

This class meets the annual continuing education requirements for residential building contractors and subcontractors established by Jefferson County Fiscal Court in 1997 (Jefferson County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 150, #21). The ordinance applied to contractors requesting permits to build or remodel both single and multi-family housing in Jefferson County.

Class meets from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays on the Shelby Campus.

16-Hour Hazardous Waste Generator/DOT Training

This class covers 49 CFR 172.704 (d) (5) which addresses the safe shipping and receiving of hazardous materials. Students will be tested at the conclusion of the course.

8-Hour Hazardous Waste Generator/DOT Refresher

This course is required every 3 years in order to maintain certification.

16-Hour IATA

This course covers the transportation of dangerous goods by air. Designed for shippers, packers, cargo agents, and freight forwarders utilizing the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and includes all the requirements of ICAO Annex 18.

Time: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Schedule:

Fee: $525 or $425 if participant brings their current IATA manual.
