As a member of the Midwest Consortium for Hazardous Waste Worker Training, the University of Louisville’s HazMat Training Center offers programs that lead the way in developing a highly trained workforce capable of safely handling the cleanup of hazardous waste sites and other incidents in which hazardous materials are involved.
The University of Louisville’s hazmat training programs feature hands-on field exercises, state-of-the-art equipment, and the latest learning technologies. All courses undergo continuous monitoring by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), which has been funding the Consortium since 1987. The University of Louisville’s Hazmat Training Center is one of only 18 NIEHS-funded hazardous waste worker training programs in the United States, all designed to reduce workers’ exposure to hazardous materials.
In addition to hazardous materials training, the University of Louisville’s Hazmat Training Center offers public courses in occupational safety and health as well as contract training courses covering Treatment, Storage and Disposal (TSD) and Industrial Emergency Response.
