Photography Basics for Digital SLR Cameras

Learn to use your digital SLR camera to take creative pictures of your family, pets, vacations, sports, nature, and more. Discover how professional photographers make dynamic images.

During this hands-on class, you’ll learn about the camera, lenses, flash, digital capture, and composition.

Have fun with assignments that allow you to practice, learn and share. You’ll quickly reach a basic level of competency that enables you to continue a lifelong pursuit in the ever-changing field of photography. If you enjoy taking pictures please join us.

Advanced Digital Photography

You've covered the basics. Now explore advanced techniques for your digital camera!

This class is a continuation for those who have completed the Beginning Photo Class. Advanced digital photography is a three-session class with focus on lighting and composition using digital SLR cameras.

Concentrating on the three primary areas of lighting, composition and equipment, you will learn more about using artificial lighting, flash and the proper equipment to use for indoors and the studio environment. In our discussion of lighting and various lighting techniques we will discuss and explore in more detail the elements of composition and creating images with an impact.

All of this will be tied together with a Saturday morning field trip, giving you an opportunity to practice your skills and receive personalized attention to your questions on a one-to-one basis.

Ghost Hunting 101

This popular class explores the intriguing world of the paranormal, takes a glimpse into the age of spiritualism, addresses theories on ghosts and hauntings, and offers techniques for researching and investigating paranormal activity.

Basic Metalsmithing Techniques for Jewelry

Learn the basics of metalsmithing and jewelry making. Students will learn to cut shapes from sheet using a jewelers saw, learn to bend and shape wire, learn soldering techniques and learn how to finish and patina metal as they create their own unique jewelry. Project possibilities include pendants, earings, and simple rings. The primary goal of this class is to learn how to use the tools and the basic techniques associated with metalsmithing to create jewelry.
